Washing sneakers in the washing machine is a practical solution for those who want to keep their favorite shoes clean without much effort. However, to maintain the quality of your shoes, there are a few principles to follow.
Before washing, remove laces and liners, wash them separately or by hand. Place the trainers in a washing net or pillowcase to reduce the risk of damage.
When choosing a detergent, we recommend using a liquid detergent, which is easier to rinse and reduces the chance of sediment.
Which Wash Programme to Use for Trainers?
If your washing machine doesn't have a special programme for washing shoes, choose the delicate cycle with a low speed of around 30 °C or the manual programme. Using a higher temperature can cause deformation or fading of the colors of the material. Also avoid programmes with high speeds and intensive washing machine tumbler movements which can cause mechanical damage to trainers.
After washing, let the sneakers dry freely on air in the shade or on newspaper. Drying in direct sunlight could cause the color to fade and tumble drying could deform the trainers or damage the material.
