How to Remove Resin from Clothing ?

Act Quickly: When removing resin, speed is key, as heat can cause it to penetrate more deeply into the fabric.

Procedure for Removing Resin from Clothing

  1. Let the Resin Harden: Place the item in the freezer for a few minutes or use an ice pack. Once the resin hardens, carefully scrape off as much as possible with a fingernail, a plastic card, or a blunt knife.
  2. Use Alcohol or Nail Polish Remover: Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol, technical alcohol, or non-acetone nail polish remover to a cloth and gently dab the affected area. Alcohol helps dissolve the resin without damaging the fabric. For delicate materials, test the alcohol on a less visible area first.
  3. Laundry Detergent: After treating the resin, apply laundry gel or a stain remover to the area and let it sit for a few minutes. Then wash the clothing according to the care label instructions, ideally at a higher temperature if the fabric allows.
  4. Check Before Drying: Before putting the item in the dryer, ensure the resin is fully removed. If any residue remains, repeat the process, as heat from the dryer could set the resin further into the fabric.
