How to Remove Pen Stains from Clothing?

Ink stain on clothing

Ink stains can be more difficult to remove from clothing. The key is to "strike while the iron is hot," as ink contains components that can quickly penetrate fibres and cause permanent damage. The sooner you start treating the stain, the higher your chances of successfully removing it.

Tips for Removing Ink Stains

  • If ink has just spilled, gently blot it with a paper towel or a clean cloth. However, avoid rubbing the stain too much to prevent spreading the ink.
  • Soak a cotton pad or cloth in isopropyl alcohol and gently apply it to the stain. Start from the edges of the stain to prevent it from spreading.
  • If you don't have isopropyl alcohol, you can try using white vinegar or a mild cleaning detergent. However, always test it on an inconspicuous part of the clothing before use.
  • Try gall soap as well, which effectively removes various types of stains.
  • After removing the stain, rinse the clothing in cold water and then wash it as usual.
